Chaie Project - Ron Arad Development Sheet

I thought that doing just sketchbook work for designer research wouldn't be enough for the designers to influence my work. Because of this, I chose to pick one of my favourite designers and study them more on an A2 board. The designer that I chose was Ron Arad. I chose him because I am really inspired by his style of working. He creates odd shapes out of materials you wouldn't really think would be able to bend into those shapes. His use of recycled materials also inspired me, I thought that was a really good way in working, and would cost a lot more than buying brand new materials.
For this A2 board, I drew a range of Arad's chair designs, covering the entire sheet. I added the names of each of these designs, to show that I have researched them, and not just chose random designs. Once i had done this, I felt as if the background was lacking something. As Arad is not only a furniture designer, but also an architect, I chose to do something relating to his career. A lot of designers and architects use graph paper, to grid things up easier, so this is what I chose to imitate. Arad's designs are 'bendy' and I wanted to show this in the background too, to do this, I started making some of the lines I drew to curve into the same direction, to show Arad's designs.

I really liked how this page turned out, I really tested my 3D drawing skills and I think it turned out well. The background really adds to all of the designs on this page and I think this is due to the fact that I made the background start curving too. I am really happy with this page, I got to do what I wanted to in this project, and include a lot of drawings into this project. I think that I could have included more information about the chair designs on this page, despite the fact I've wrote about some of the chair designs in my sketchbook.
