Chair Project - Moodboard 1

For my first mood board on this project, I wanted to make something that was really good, as a good start for this project. To do this I wanted to make this mood board as visually appealing as I could, I started this process by selecting a few of my favorite images I had previously found and included in my sketchbook mood board pages. After looking at all these images together, I decided that I wanted this page to have a very bright, eye-catching look. I didn't want this page to just be found resources, I wanted it to also have a lot of my own artwork in it. On my mood board page I stuck down some scrap pieces of paper, such as brown paper, black paper and tissue paper, to give he background some interesting aspects, not just plain white. This also helped me creatively as I find it very hard to make a start on work when it is a mass of plain white paper, I find it incredibly daunting. I then messed with the arrangement of the photos I had selected, find out where the best place to put them were, I didn't glue them when I had decided as I didn't want to change my mind later on in this piece, which I tend to do very often. Around these images, I sketched very lightly drawings I would put on the piece, experimenting with the layout and what I included After I decided that  I was happy with the layout, I stuck down the photographs, and made a start on some of the drawings. I realized that some of my drawings were overlapping the photographs, and if I wanted the drawings to be above them, I wouldn't be able to do so if I continued to use colored pencils. I over-came this problem as I decided to draw these certain drawings on a separate piece of paper instead, cut them out and stuck them on the original place. Once all of this was complete, I thought that my background looked too plain and wanted to do something to it. Because I was unsure of what to do, I looked back through my sketchbook for inspiration. I saw that on one of my sketchbook pages I used watercolor paints to make a washed out rainbow effect which I liked. I was able to this as, and when I did I really liked the effect this made, as it added to the eye-catching look that I wanted to achieve.

Something I feel that I could have worked more on, on this mood board was the drawings that I had done. I think I could have done these better because some of the pencil drawings aren't very good, this is obviously something  can work on in the future. Although this was something I didn't like, I really liked all the bright colors on this mood board, I feel as if I really succeed on making this look very eye-catching and bright.
Altogether, I am really proud of this piece, as I put a lot of thought into it and I am proud of the outcome. It looks how I wanted it to and I feel like it is a good start to my project.
